Man of Tai Chi

A 2013 Chinese-American martial arts film directed by Keanu Reeves in his directorial debut. The story follows a young Tai Chi master named Chen Lin-Hu (Tiger Chen), known as Tiger, who lives in Beijing and works as a courier. Beyond his job, he dedicates himself to studying the traditional Ling Kong Tai Chi style under his mentor (Yu Hai). Aiming to preserve his master's temple, which faces demolition due to structural issues, Tiger accepts an offer from Donaka Mark (Keanu Reeves) to participate in underground no-rules fights organized for the entertainment of wealthy clients. With each fight, Tiger earns money for the temple's restoration but gradually adopts a more aggressive style, drifting away from the peaceful principles of Tai Chi. Meanwhile, Hong Kong police officer Sun Jing (Karen Mok) investigates Donaka's activities, aiming to expose his criminal enterprise. The film explores the protagonist's internal struggle between maintaining his moral values and the temptation of power and money, offering spectacular fight scenes and a deep philosophical undertone. It premiered on July 5, 2013, in China, followed by an international release.
