Moon

A British science fiction film released in 2009, directed by Duncan Jones. The plot follows Sam Bell (Sam Rockwell), an employee of Lunar Industries, who is nearing the end of a three-year contract overseeing the extraction of helium-3, a potential energy source for Earth, on a lunar station. His only companion is the artificial intelligence GERTY (voiced by Kevin Spacey). Two weeks before his contract ends, Sam begins experiencing hallucinations and physical ailments, leading to an accident in a lunar rover. After awakening in the station's infirmary, he notices odd behavior from GERTY and decides to investigate the crash site, where he discovers a clone of himself. Gradually, Sam realizes that he is just one of many clones created for labor on the station, and that his memories of a family are artificially implanted. The two Sams join forces to uncover the truth and find a way to return to Earth. The film explores themes of identity, the ethics of cloning, and corporate immorality.
