A 2010 American science fiction action horror film directed by Paul W. S. Anderson, it is the fourth installment in the "Resident Evil" film series, based on the video game series of the same name. The film continues the story from the previous installment, with the protagonist Alice (Milla Jovovich) continuing her fight against the Umbrella Corporation and its head, Albert Wesker (Shawn Roberts). The film begins with Alice and her clones attacking Umbrella's headquarters in Tokyo, attempting to eliminate Wesker. However, Wesker manages to escape, destroying the base and most of the clones, leaving Alice without her superhuman abilities. Six months later, Alice sets out in search of survivors and finds her friends Claire Redfield (Ali Larter) and her brother Chris (Wentworth Miller) in a Los Angeles prison surrounded by zombies. Together, they attempt to reach a safe haven known as "Arcadia," which turns out to be a ship used by Umbrella for experiments on survivors. In the final showdown aboard the ship, Alice battles Wesker, who tries to use her to create a new race of beings. Through the combined efforts of Alice, Claire, and Chris, Wesker is defeated, and they free the survivors, preparing for new challenges in a world overrun by the zombie apocalypse.
