A 2013 American action horror film directed by Marc Forster. The film is based on Max Brooks' novel of the same name and depicts a sudden zombie pandemic that engulfs the world. The protagonist, former UN investigator Gerry Lane (Brad Pitt), is compelled to return to duty to find the source of the infection and save humanity. The story begins in Philadelphia, where Gerry, his wife Karin (Mireille Enos), and their two daughters find themselves amidst the chaos caused by the rapid spread of zombies. The family is evacuated to a U.S. Navy ship, where the command requires Gerry to assist in investigating the cause of the pandemic in exchange for his family's safety. Gerry travels to South Korea, learning about the possible origin of the virus and meeting a former CIA agent (David Morse), who informs him that Israel had prepared for the epidemic in advance by building a wall around Jerusalem. In Jerusalem, Gerry meets Mossad operative Jurgen Warmbrunn (Ludi Boeken) and Israeli soldier Segen (Daniella Kertesz). However, the city soon falls to a zombie attack, and Gerry and Segen barely escape. Realizing that zombies avoid infecting people with serious illnesses, Gerry heads to a WHO laboratory in Wales to find pathogens that could act as a "camouflage" against zombies. After a perilous operation, he manages to inject himself with a disease-causing agent, rendering him invisible to zombies. This strategy enables humans to begin a successful fight against the pandemic. The film concludes with hope for the restoration of peace and hints at the ongoing battle against the infection.
