Sabrina

Sydney Pollack's 1995 American romantic comedy-drama reworks a film Billy Wilder had made in 1954 under the same title; Wilder in turn drew on the 1953 play "Sabrina Fair," written by Samuel A. Taylor. The story centers on Sabrina Fairchild (Julia Ormond), the daughter of the chauffeur for the wealthy Larrabee family in Long Island. She has been infatuated with the family's younger son, charming playboy David Larrabee (Greg Kinnear), since childhood, though he has never noticed her. After an internship at Vogue in Paris, Sabrina returns home transformed into a sophisticated and elegant woman, catching David's attention despite his engagement to Elizabeth Tyson (Lauren Holly), the daughter of a powerful businessman. David's older brother, workaholic Linus Larrabee (Harrison Ford), becomes concerned that David's involvement with Sabrina could jeopardize a significant business merger. To prevent this, Linus intervenes to distract Sabrina, but unexpectedly finds himself falling in love with her. The film explores themes of love, class differences, and personal growth, blending romantic elements with drama and comedy. The cast also includes Nancy Marchand, John Wood, Richard Crenna, Angie Dickinson, Dana Ivey, and Fanny Ardant. The musical score was composed by John Williams, and the song "Moonlight," performed by Sting, received an Academy Award nomination. Despite positive critical reception, the film achieved moderate box office success, grossing approximately $87 million against a budget of $50–58 million.
