The 1957 American romantic drama set in Japan during the Korean War follows U.S. Air Force Major Lloyd "Ace" Gruver (Marlon Brando), who initially opposes marriages between American servicemen and Japanese women. His perspective shifts when he falls in love with renowned Japanese dancer Hana-Ogi (Miiko Taka). The couple faces numerous challenges, including societal and military prejudices. Concurrently, the storyline features Sergeant Joe Kelly (Red Buttons), who marries Japanese woman Katsumi (Miyoshi Umeki) despite military prohibitions.
