The Day the Earth Stood Still

A 2008 American science fiction film directed by Scott Derrickson, serving as a remake of the 1951 classic of the same name. The story follows the arrival of an extraterrestrial object on Earth, carrying a humanoid alien named Klaatu (Keanu Reeves) and a massive robotic guardian, GORT. Klaatu comes with a mission that threatens humanity: advanced alien civilizations have decided to exterminate the human race in order to save the planet from its destructive activities. In the end, the alien forces call off their attack but leave humanity without electricity, giving them a chance to change their ways.
