A 1960 American horror-comedy film directed by Roger Corman, the story follows clumsy florist's assistant Seymour Krelborn (Jonathan Haze), who works at a rundown flower shop on Skid Row owned by the grumpy Gravis Mushnick (Mel Welles). Seymour is infatuated with his co-worker Audrey Fulquard (Jackie Joseph) and, to impress her, cultivates a peculiar plant he names Audrey II. He soon discovers that the plant thrives on human blood. Initially feeding it his own blood, Seymour eventually resorts to murder to satiate Audrey II's growing appetite. Victims include Wilbur Force (Jack Nicholson), a masochistic dental patient. As the plant becomes a sensation, attracting customers and media attention, it spirals out of control, leading to tragic consequences. Filmed in just two days and one night on a budget of approximately $30,000, the movie gained cult status for its dark humor, satire, and unique storyline, and marked Jack Nicholson's film debut.
