The Revenant

An American Western and adventure drama released in 2015, directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu, with a screenplay by Mark L. Smith and Iñárritu, based on Michael Punke's 2002 novel of the same name. The film tells the story of Hugh Glass (Leonardo DiCaprio), an experienced frontiersman and fur trapper, who, in 1823, embarks on an expedition through the American frontier. During one of their journeys, he is brutally attacked by a grizzly bear, sustaining severe injuries. His fellow expedition members, including John Fitzgerald (Tom Hardy) and Jim Bridger (Will Poulter), decide to abandon him, taking his weapons and supplies. However, driven by a thirst for vengeance and an incredible will to survive, Glass overcomes immense hardships, including harsh weather conditions, wild animals, and hostile Native American tribes, to survive and seek retribution against his betrayers. The film received critical acclaim for Emmanuel Lubezki's stunning cinematography, its realistic portrayal of nature, and DiCaprio's powerful performance, which earned him his first Academy Award for Best Actor.
