Transcendence

The 2014 American science fiction thriller directed by Wally Pfister, marking his directorial debut, centers on a group of scientists striving to complete an artificial intelligence project while confronting opposition from a radical anti-technology organization. The narrative follows Dr. Will Caster (Johnny Depp), a leading researcher in the field of artificial intelligence, working on creating a sentient computer capable of self-awareness. His wife, Evelyn Caster (Rebecca Hall), also a scientist, supports him in these endeavors. Their work draws the attention of the terrorist group "R.I.F.T." (Revolutionary Independence From Technology), which orchestrates coordinated attacks on AI laboratories. In one such attack, Will is mortally wounded, prompting Evelyn to transfer his consciousness into the quantum computer they developed.
