Bi-2

Belarusian-Russian rock band formed in 1988 in Bobruisk by Aleksandr Uman (Shura) and Yegor Bortnik (Lyova), who met in 1985 at the Minsk children's theater studio "Rond." Initially named "Brothers in Arms," then "Shore of Truth," the band adopted the name "Bi-2" in 1989. In the early 1990s, the members moved to Israel, with Shura later relocating to Australia. Despite the distance, they continued collaborating by exchanging recordings and ideas. In 1999, the band moved to Russia, releasing their self-titled album "Bi-2" in 2000, featuring the hit "Polkovniku Nikto Ne Pishet," which served as the soundtrack for the film "Brother 2" and brought them widespread recognition. In subsequent years, Bi-2 released several successful albums, including "Meow Kiss Me" (2001), "Foreign Cars" (2004), "Milk" (2006), "Lunapark" (2009), "Event Horizon" (2017), and "Hallelujah" (2021). The band is known for experimenting with various musical styles, including alternative rock, art rock, post-punk, and indie rock, as well as collaborating with symphony orchestras. In 2023, the band members emigrated to Israel. Bi-2 remains one of the most influential rock bands in the post-Soviet space, receiving numerous awards, including the Golden Gramophone and World Music Awards.
