Kukryniksy

A Russian rock band formed in 1997 in Saint Petersburg by Aleksei Gorshenev, Aleksandr Leontyev, and Dmitry Gusev. The band's name was borrowed from the Soviet trio of caricaturists known as Kukryniksy. Initially performing punk rock, the group's style evolved over time to encompass alternative rock, post-punk, and gothic rock, characterized by a dark atmosphere and philosophical lyrics. Their debut album, "Kukryniksy," was released in 1999, followed by notable works such as "Raskrashennaya dusha" (2002), "Stolknovenie" (2004), "Favorit Solntsa" (2004), "Shaman" (2006), "XXX" (2007), "Vsadniki sveta" (2010), "Myself" (2012), and "Artist" (2016), solidifying their presence in the Russian rock scene. The band actively participated in festivals, including "Nashestvie," where they first performed in 2001. In 2018, after 20 years of activity, Kukryniksy concluded their career with a farewell concert at the "Nashestvie" festival in Bolshoye Zavidovo. Aleksei Gorshenev continued his musical journey with solo projects, including albums based on the poetry of Sergei Yesenin. The band's contribution to the development of Russian rock music remains significant, and their work continues to resonate with fans.
