English singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and actor, born on January 8, 1947, in London, began his musical career in 1962. He became known for his innovative approaches to music and stage persona, including creating characters like Ziggy Stardust and the Thin White Duke. His breakthrough came in 1969 with the song "Space Oddity," and the album "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars" (1972) solidified his star status. In the 1970s, he experimented with various genres, including soul, funk, and electronic music, notably in the "Berlin Trilogy" ("Low," "Heroes," "Lodger"). In the 1980s, he achieved commercial success with the album "Let's Dance" and participated in the Live Aid benefit concert in 1985. Bowie also showcased his acting skills, starring in films like "The Man Who Fell to Earth" and "Labyrinth." He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996. His final album, "Blackstar," was released two days before his death from liver cancer on January 10, 2016.
