A 2007 American fantasy comedy film directed by Tom Shadyac, serving as a spin-off and sequel to the 2003 film "Bruce Almighty." The story follows former news anchor Evan Baxter (Steve Carell), who becomes a congressman and moves with his family to a suburb of Washington, D.C. His life takes an unexpected turn when God (Morgan Freeman) appears and commands him to build an ark in anticipation of a great flood. Initially resistant, Evan begins to follow the instructions: growing a beard, wearing ancient robes, and gathering animals in pairs. His behavior confuses his wife Joan (Lauren Graham), colleagues, and the media. Congressman Long (John Goodman) attempts to exploit Evan's oddities for political gain. Despite ridicule and obstacles, Evan completes the ark, and on the day of the dam's opening, a flood occurs, validating his actions. The film explores themes of faith, obedience, and environmental responsibility. The cast also includes John Michael Higgins, Jimmy Bennett, and Wanda Sykes. Despite a high budget of $175 million, the film grossed approximately $173 million, making it one of the biggest box office bombs.
