Reds

An American biographical historical drama released in 1981, directed by Warren Beatty, who also starred as the lead character and co-wrote the screenplay with Trevor Griffiths. The film chronicles the life of John Reed (Warren Beatty), an American journalist and socialist, author of "Ten Days That Shook the World," which details the Russian October Revolution. Central to the narrative are his passionate relationship with journalist and feminist Louise Bryant (Diane Keaton), their joint involvement in the American leftist movement, and their journey to Soviet Russia, where Reed becomes both observer and participant in revolutionary events. The film uniquely blends dramatic storytelling with documentary elements, featuring interviews with actual witnesses of the era, providing depth and authenticity. The cast also includes Jack Nicholson as playwright Eugene O'Neill, Maureen Stapleton as anarchist Emma Goldman, and Jerzy Kosinski as Bolshevik leader Grigory Zinoviev.
