A 2001 American adventure action film directed by Sheldon Lettich. The film opens in 1099 during the First Crusade, depicting Flemish knight Charles Le Vaillant (Jean-Claude Van Damme), who, disillusioned by the horrors of war, establishes a new religious order uniting Christians, Jews, and Muslims. However, he is betrayed and killed by fellow Crusaders, and the final chapter of the order's sacred text is lost in the desert. In the present day, Rudy Cafmeyer (Jean-Claude Van Damme), a thief and smuggler of valuable artifacts, learns that his father, archaeologist and museum curator Oscar "Ozzie" Cafmeyer (Vernon Dobtcheff), has disappeared in Israel while searching for a secret related to the ancient order. Rudy travels to Jerusalem to find his father, embarking on a series of dangerous adventures. He encounters police detective Lt. Dalia Barr (Sofia Milos), who initially arrests him but later becomes his ally. Together, they uncover a conspiracy involving modern-day cult leader Cyrus Jacob (Brian Thompson), who seeks to exploit the lost knowledge of the order for his own purposes. The film blends elements of action, adventure, and mysticism, exploring themes of family bonds, betrayal, and the quest for truth.
