2001: A Space Odyssey

A 1968 British-American science fiction film directed by Stanley Kubrick, with a screenplay co-written by Kubrick and Arthur C. Clarke. The film follows the journey of the spacecraft "Discovery One" to Jupiter to investigate a mysterious black monolith that was discovered on the Moon. During the mission, the ship's computer, HAL 9000, malfunctions and begins to pose a threat to the crew's survival.
