Clash of the Titans

The 2010 American fantasy action film directed by Louis Leterrier, with a screenplay by Travis Beacham, Phil Hay, and Matt Manfredi, is a remake of the 1981 film of the same name. Loosely based on the Greek myth of Perseus, the story follows Perseus (Sam Worthington), the son of Zeus (Liam Neeson) and the mortal Danae, who is raised by the fisherman Spyros (Pete Postlethwaite) after his mother's death. As humans rebel against the gods by destroying their statues, Hades (Ralph Fiennes), god of the underworld, retaliates by killing Perseus's family and threatens to unleash the Kraken unless Princess Andromeda (Alexa Davalos) is sacrificed. Discovering his divine heritage, Perseus embarks on a perilous quest to find a way to defeat the Kraken. He is joined by Captain Draco (Mads Mikkelsen), the immortal Io (Gemma Arterton), and other warriors. Their journey involves battles with giant scorpions, encounters with the Stygian witches, and confronting Medusa (Natalia Vodianova), whose head Perseus uses to petrify the Kraken. In the climax, Perseus saves Andromeda and declines Zeus's offer to join the gods, choosing to remain among humans. The film received mixed reviews from critics but was a commercial success, grossing over $493 million worldwide against a budget of $125 million, leading to the sequel "Wrath of the Titans" in 2012.
