Nirvana

An American rock band from Aberdeen, Washington, formed in 1987 by vocalist and guitarist Kurt Cobain and bassist Krist Novoselic. In its early years, the band underwent several drummer changes, including Chad Channing, before Dave Grohl joined in 1990, completing the classic lineup. Their debut album, "Bleach," released in 1989 on the independent label Sub Pop, laid the foundation for their sound, blending elements of punk and heavy metal. The breakthrough came in 1991 with the release of "Nevermind" on DGC Records, featuring the hit "Smells Like Teen Spirit," which became emblematic of Generation X and brought grunge and alternative rock into the mainstream. The follow-up album, "In Utero" (1993), showcased a rawer and more experimental approach, solidifying the band's reputation as innovators. Despite a brief career ending with Cobain's tragic death in 1994, Nirvana had a profound impact on music and culture, selling over 75 million records worldwide. In 2014, the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and their music continues to inspire new generations of artists and fans.
