N.R.M.

Belarusian rock band founded in 1994 in Minsk by former members of the group "Mroja". The name N.R.M. stands for "Niezaležnaja Respublika Mroja" (Independent Republic of Dream), reflecting a commitment to cultural and political independence. The band performs songs in the Belarusian language, actively using Belarusian Latin script, and has become a symbol of national identity. In 1998, they released the album "Pashpart hramadzianina N.R.M.", marking a significant milestone in their work. In 2000, the album "Try čarapachi" was released, representing the culmination of their musical journey; the title track became an unofficial anthem of Belarusian protests and achieved cult status. In 2007, they released the album "06", reflecting the political events in Belarus in the spring of 2006; the album featured new instruments such as cello and mandolin, as well as participation from a children's choir. Due to their political stance, the band faced unofficial bans from radio broadcasting in Belarus but continued active concert activities abroad, performing in Poland, Germany, Slovakia, and Sweden. In 2012, Lavon Volski left the group, after which the band continued performances with a renewed lineup. N.R.M. remains one of the most influential musical groups in Belarus, inspiring generations of musicians and listeners with their dedication to national culture and freedom of expression.
